These hand painted enamel earrings are made from copper sheet that has been cut out, sanded and cleaned. I apply multiple layers of enamel which is finely powdered glass, first to the back then to the front of each piece. Each layer must be fired individually. This firing process is repeated at least 6 times.
I used the sgrafitto technique on this particular pair of earrings. Sgraffito means to scratch or write. I fired the blue enamel then coated it with lavender liquid enamel, let it dry then scratched the design into the lavender then fired them to achieve this design.
The earrings measure 2.75 inches from top of ear wire
