These hand painted enamel earrings are made from copper sheet that has been cut out, sanded and cleaned. I apply multiple layers of enamel, which is finely powdered glass, first to the back then to the front of each piece. Each layer must be fired individually. This firing process is repeated at least 6 times.
The technique I used to create the finish on these particular earrings was a crackle technique. A layer of white crackle enamel is applied over the dark enamel layer then when a lighter color is applied over it the enamel cracks into unique designs and you can see the colors underneath.
