A sparkling raw amethyst druzy and an abstract piece of reticulated silver* hang from a leather double cord necklace . The sterling silver closure is an S hook with extra links which allow the necklace to be adjusted. The silver has been given a patina to highlight the crevices.
The necklace measures 18" with 1.5" extension links
The pendants full length is 3.5"
*reticulating silver is a process where I heat the silver slowly causing a dark film to appear. I then give the piece an acid bath to remove the film. I continue doing this 10 times. What this does is cause the pure silver to rise to the top and the copper is in the interior of the piece. When I use the torch to heat it again the alloy in the interior flows before the surface metal does. The result is that the surface wrinkles, something like the "skin" on hot chocolate-only more appetizing.
